Designing fashion involves carefully selecting suitable fabrics, taking into account aesthetics, performance, cost, commercial considerations, and “sustainability.” This workshop aims to introduce participants to fabric fibers, as well as the structures of the two major fabric categories: woven and knitted fabrics. It will cover fabric printing, dyeing, and common defects. Participants will understand how different fabric structures and properties impact fashion costs and learn how to balance these factors during the fashion creation process.
