The competition, also known as the “Olympics of Skills”, is organised every two years and aims to promote vocational skills among young people, enhance regional exchanges in the field of vocational skills, and facilitate the development of vocational and professional education and training through skills competitions.
The Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA) has also been responsible for the Hong Kong regional screening and training for the “Fashion Technology” trade since 1997. CITA selects three contestants from the screening competition and provides training for one year before CITA selects one contestant to represent Hong Kong in the WorldSkills Competition through a series of assessments.
The 46th competition was held in Helsinki, Finland from October 20 to 23, 2022. A total of 20 contestants from different countries and regions participated in the “Fashion Technology” trade.
